Myofascial Release
Myofascial Release is a gentle technique that works to release the connective tissue infusing and surrounding almost every cell of the body. For those suffering with chronic pain this can be a highly effective technique as it looks to find and treat pain at its source.

Using a wide variety of techniques, this work usually involves long, gentle holds in various places on the body, feeling for restrictions and encouraging the body to release them. The treatment shouldn't cause discomfort but sometimes as the tissue is releasing you can feel some discomfort. I will always be listening and responding appropriately to your body, so that we work together to free you of pain.

Ideally we would expect to see some improvement in your symptoms after 3 sessions, if not before. We would then discuss further treatment depending on your circumstances, and ideally look to reach a maintenance visit stage where you would perhaps come once every 4 - 6 weeks as an example.

Remedial Massage
If you are looking for massage to help a specific problem then this would be the option for you. I use a variety of massage techniques to help relieve pain and restore function to an area, but always considering the bigger picture and looking to find the root cause of the issue. Often this means that I will work away from the site of the pain to invite balance back to the body.

Therapeutic Relaxation Massage
A nurturing treatment using a variety of long, flowing massage techniques that will allow you to drop down into a state of deep relaxation and help your body and mind recover from the general stresses of everyday life. There is no better way to spend your time, allowing your body to melt into the comfort of the memory foam topped massage couch, with a heated blanket (when appropriate!), and just for that hour or so, not having to do anything but simply lie there and enjoy being pampered! It is so good for the soul!

Oncology Massage
For many years it was believed that massage can spread cancer cells.. THIS IS NOT TRUE! We now understand how beneficial massage and touch therapy is for cancer patients, supporting conventional medical treatments, helping you get back on your feet after treatment, and playing a huge part in palliative care. I am qualified to provide Oncology Massage/bodywork, having undertaken thorough training to understand the different needs that some cancer patients may have. When appropriate I will work with your oncology team to ensure I can deliver the right care for you personally, as often there are complex medical needs that need to be worked with.

Scar Tissue Release
Scar tissue is formed after injury or surgery. Your body lays down more collagen fibres within the fascia as it rushes to repair the damage. These collagen fibres are dense and inelastic and can cause restriction in the surrounding area and even beyond, compromising full function of the body and can often be the cause of seemingly unrelated pain elsewhere. It is often worth considering scar tissue adhesions in chronic pain - they often go much deeper than the surface of the skin.

TMJ/Jaw Treatment
I have a special interest in pain and dysfunction of the jaw. The Temporomandibular joint (TMJ) works harder than any other joint in the body and approximately one in four people suffer with some form of TMJ dysfunction. This could be jaw pain, clicking and popping, locking but also a number of related conditions can be affected by jaw dysfunction, such as headaches or Tinnitus. Sometimes it can even present as dental pain, but investigations at the Dentist show that there are no issues with the teeth and it is actually the surrounding tissue causing the pain!
I use a variety of techniques including Myofascial Release, Massage and Intraoral work when appropriate. The techniques I use will be tailored to your individual need.

Cranial Treatment
Do you suffer from migraines, tension headaches, tinnitus, sinus problems, facial pain, jaw pain, neck pain or combinations of any of these? It is common to think that Massage and Myofascial Release techniques only really apply to people who are suffering with pain/discomfort below the neck, but this is absolutely not the case. So many people suffer with pain/dysfunction of the head/face and it can be debilitating, exhausting and generally miserable! I use gentle but very effective techniques to free restrictions in the soft tissue of the cranium and face which can help to rebalance and release pressure on all the connective tissue.

Clothed Massage
Not everyone is comfortable to remove clothing for all sorts of reasons, and others prefer to not always be covered in oil and this means that traditional western massage is not accessible to all. I believe that everyone should be able to receive hands on therapy for their health and general wellbeing, and even more so these days with so many people experiencing touch deprivation and social isolation. So, using a variety of Eastern and Western approaches I am now offering a deeply relaxing, but also stimulating, massage treatment that I have developed using a wide range of adapted styles.
I will work over your clothes and/or a sheet and, as always, adapt the treatment to suit your own needs. It is a very versatile treatment and is open to all - whether you are just interested to find out how it feels, or you are craving a massage but don’t want to undress (for whatever reason that may be).
